The Kyle Centre, Ayr

Summary:

The Kyle Centre is a town centre shopping centre built in the mid 1980’s, with a First Floor Food Court at the convergence of the four malls. When the Food Court became vacant, the client wished to undertake a comprehensive refurbishment and reconfiguration.

The project included removal of a footbridge and several split levels of seating floors, installation of a second escalator and new balustrading, and creation of a new baby change and accessible toilet facilities. The works also required a redesign of the Centre’s smoke extract system.

The works were subsequently undertaken over a five month period, throughout which the malls and retailers’ units were kept fully operational.
